Pues sí, tal cual lees, la organización de la EWS acaban de publicar hace unos minutos que las 3 primeras carreras de la EWS del 2022 quedan de momento en suspenso. Estas carreras iba a realizarse en Tasmania y Derby, Australia y en Nelson, Nueva Zelanda. No dicen que hayan sido canceladas, imagino que las aplazarán para más adelante, el 2023 o algo así. Todo a causa de la situación actual con el COVID19 en la región.

Este es el comunicado oficial de la organización:

The Enduro World Series (EWS) today announces that the first three rounds of 2022 will not go ahead as scheduled. 

Due to the evolving COVID situation in Australia and New Zealand, the EWS, along with the local organising committees, have agreed the rounds scheduled to take place in Nelson and Tasmania can not proceed as planned. 

The hope is that the situation improves enough to return to each of the venues in 2023, with a decision made in January of 2022. The rest of the 2022 EWS and EWS-E calendar will continue as planned. 

Chris Ball, Managing Director of the Enduro World Series, said: “We’re obviously disappointed not to be visiting New Zealand and Tasmania in 2022, but it’s the right decision in light of the current situation.

“I personally thank the hard work and support of our Nelson and Tasmanian organizers and we look forward to bringing the EWS back to those venues as soon as possible.”

Nelson Mountain Bike Club Chair Melanie Schroder says that the club is devastated that the event cannot be held in 2022. 

“Nelson was bursting with excitement at the prospect of the EWS being held here.  New trails have been built, we will have new infrastructure in place for all mountain bikers and the course was going to showcase the best we have to offer which is unique to anywhere else in the world. We look forward to working with EWS to plan an event in the future where it will be a truly world event that everyone can attend without restrictions.”

Ian Harwood, Race Director at the Tasmanian events, added: “The EMS enduro team is looking forward to welcoming the whole EWS family back to Tasmania in 2023.”
